An Overview of Christianity

False Mass Alien Abduction

Background

One of the recent trends to gain popularity in the U.S. is the fascination with the supernatural. Many television shows, movies, and books deal with this theme. One of the aspects of the supernatural is aliens, particularly alien abductions.

Warning

There will be an event in the future of this world which may be seen by some as a mass alien abduction, where thousands upon thousands of people will disappear suddenly. The people, both live and dead, will vanish. This future event is not a mass abduction by aliens, but is the Rapture. This paragraph is to serve as a warning so that you will know the truth about what is really happening when the TVs, radios, and newspapers announce a "real-life alien abduction".

Explanation

Generally, there is a distinction between the Rapture and the Second Coming. The Rapture is the gathering of those who are in Christ (the Christians). The Second Coming is when Jesus Christ comes to this earth again, to establish His eternal kingdom.

The point of this page, however, is not to research the differences between or timing of the Rapture and Second Coming, but to point out that something is going to happen. This is a brief overview of what will occur, for two reasons.
1. This is a major part of the Christian religion, so it is a good thing to include in an introduction to Christianity
2. So that those who have not heard anything about the future, as told by the Bible, will have some background, and not be deceived or misled by others when those events do take place.
  • I Thessalonians 4:16-17 -- For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
  • II Peter 3:3-4 -- Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the father fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
  • I Corinthians 15:52 -- In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
  • Matthew 24:42 -- Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.
